A typology of secondary research in Applied Linguistics

Abstract Secondary research is burgeoning in the field of Applied Linguistics, taking form both narrative literature review and especially more systematic synthesis. Clearly purposed methodologically sound secondary contributes to because it provides useful reliable summaries a given domain, facilitates dialogues between sub-fields, reduces redundancies published literature. It important understand that an umbrella term includes numerous types review. In this commentary, we present typology 13 well-established emergent Linguistics. Employing four-dimensional analytical framework, focus, process, structure, representation text are discussed, supported by examples. This article ends with recommendations for conducting calls further inquiry into field-specific methodology research.
